That's completely unacceptable, I'm sorry that happened to you. The tech that showed up for your initial appointment should have either run a temporary line for you or at the very least have made sure that the a new line was scheduled to be installed. (The line is called the "drop".)

 

I've asked a Comcast employee to look into this for you. If you don't hear from anyone soon, let me know.
